To get over the hump...

A few things to help you get over the hump this week :)

Busy, crazy, crabby, teething, toddling twins

This weekend apparently meant no naps, lots of drool (and other assorted things usually assorted with teething that I won't go into detail about) and some temper tantrums. I wish they would have warned me ahead of time they were going to act like that!

We went to the Children's Museum for the first time and worked on puzzles...
 and looked at kitchen ingredients...
 we practiced cooking (sort of)...
and checked out pots and pans.
We went to the zoo (I was brave and took them by myself, yikes!) and got scared when the gorillas were being a little wild...
and we met some baby goats at the petting zoo.

We sat in our recliners with the remote and got caught up on episodes of The Voice (they LOVE the music)...
made a heap of pillow and blankets and went crazy jumping in them...
went to Target to get new cups...

and had some Puffcorn for snack. Yummy!

On top of all this stuff, we also hit a few other hot spots - the bank, Home Depot, and Bayliss Park.
By tonight, it was time to wind down, get ready for another week at respite and get squeaky clean !

Not sure what the plans will be next weekend for the 4th of July and the long weekend. Just hoping that it will include a couple naps. :)

Things that make you go hmmmmm...

"Mom, what is this? You want me to eat real food? Really? You think I'm going to eat a piece of cheese?"

"OK, here we go. I'll try it. I guess."

"Sissy, it's good! What's the problem? Give it to me if you don't want to eat it."

"I've thought it over. I don't want this. It's weird."

"I would  much rather lay with Manny and my bottle if you don't mind."

Hope y'all are having a good week!

A lazy Saturday at the park

"I loooooove the giant squirrels!"
Bubbles!

"Aunt Bo, do more!"

"OK Mamaw, I love the giant squirrel but there's the best fountain I've ever seen over there with lots of water. And you know how much I love water."

"I'm just hangin' out."

"Did I mention how much I love these giant squirrels?"

"I'm a big boy, I can sit on the bench too Mamaw."

Twins and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Weekend

We're sick. Again. I know what you're thinking - "but it's summer, it's been warm". I know! I know that the calendar says June but apparently somebody forgot to tell all the germs we're running into to leave us alone and let us have fun this summer. As a result of being sick we didn't make any of our social engagements this weekend - no Relay for Life, no Summer Arts Festival, no Respite Care Day at the ballpark. Boooo!
Here's the latest count-
Payton - 1 ER visit, 1 follow-up = pneumonia, strep throat and an ear infection
Parker - 1 ER visit, 1 follow-up = sinus infection, cellulitis, and g-tube site infection

So we had our follow-up visits with Dr. W who always takes super good care of us.

Saturday we spent at home being low-key. On Sunday, we got visits from Aunt Bunny and Molly (YAY! Thank you!!!) and Aunt Bo. We splashed in our new water table, played in the grass with the puppy, watered flowers and blew bubbles.

Oh well...there's always next weekend, right?

The ER - Payton edition

I got a call Monday that Payton had fever high enough she had to leave respite care. When I got there, they'd checked her lungs which sounded clear and her oxygen levels were good. So we went home. Tuesday she stayed home because her fever would not go away. It would leave for about an hour, then come back. I'm considering buying stock in infant Tylenol and Ibuprofen.

By Wednesday night, she was flaming hot and her breathing was weird but there were no wheezes or anything. She went to sleep and I thought she was cooling down and would hopefully be better in the morning. Hoping. Everytime she woke up and made any noise (which was about every hour) I tried to get her to drink something and she refused. Just before 4 when she did that, then started to throw up and was flaming hot it was time to cave in and go. We drove across town to Children's ER. Luckily, no one else was around and we were able to go right in. Blood draw, check for urinary tract infection and a chest x-ray, there it was - pneumonia. Again. We weren't exactly looking to add chronic pneumonia to our list or "stuff".

After IV fluids and antibiotics, the doctor agreed to let her come home with me instead of being admitted (although it took a little convincing). We just had to add one more med to the list of hers for a week or so.

If you have a spare thought for us we could use them. We are still hoping to make our big plans this weekend. Fingers crossed!

Out and about

I know...no new post in a week. Well we finally have something new to share! And I finally grabbed my camera and got some pictures. After a long week at school and playing at home

we had a jam-packed weekend planned! We spent some time in our new pool both days. We LOVE the water.

Then after some quiet breakfast time on Sunday morning...

we got ready and had headed to the Dog Wash. The Dog Wash is a bunch of their favorite things all bunched together - water, puppies, Aunt Bo, Uncle Dave and ice cream when it's all over.

And now, we're ready for the week so that we can get some rest! Hope you all had a nice weekend. And don't forget to stay cool this week!

P.S. Coming soon...we'll be at Summer Arts Festival, Relay for Life and our Respite Care day out at the ballpark this coming weekend, as well as playing with our new water table and more pool time. Get ready for more pictures!
