Touch A Truck

On Saturday we went to the Touch A Truck event put on by the Child Saving Institute .  Since we Payton was sick, she stayed home with Grandma and Parker got a little solo time with Mom and Dad. We weren't too sure how he would do at first - he was a little rattled by the horns being honked on some of them, but he quickly got into it. He would point at whatever was bright colored and say "ooooo ooohhhh" (which is Parker speak for look at that over there). He loved the earth movers, and the bright orange city work trucks that were there. I'm really looking forward to being able to take both of them to it next year. I think they'll have a blast.

And a few other odds and ends...

Later Saturday afternoon, Ms. Payton and I took our quarterly trip to the ER at Children's. We had an amazing doctor while there who has her own boy/girl twins just a few months older than the dynamic duo. We chatted a lot and she completely listened. One quick x-ray and it was confirmed - pneumonia. Fourth time in 9 months.

Parker has a new "thing". He poops in the bathtub. Everytime for the past few weeks. Sunday evening, it was right after I cleaned the bathroom and all the tub toys and been sent through the dishwasher. When you do that, you have to finish your bath in the kitchen sink. Good thing he's still a bit of a runt.

I always figured at some point I would have to explain (or try) to Parker why he has an extra button and Payton doesn't. It never really occurred to me that I would have to explain it to Payton or that she would want one. She is now trying to hook up Parker's g-tube to her belly button when he's done eating.

We spent today at home since they both are sick. We had a long office visit with the pediatrician with Aunt Bo's help and are now home with strict instruction and meds for the next couple days. We spent alot of our afternoon watching the workers across the street and the big trucks they brought with them.

Keep us in your thoughts the next couple days and hope the meds work fast. We've got lots of stuff coming up and we don't need to be sick. :)

Pics of the Week

We're in a bit of a rough stretch. And trust me, these are about as far from the faces they've really had for the past 10 days, but I got them to smile for a fleeting moment and managed to catch it with the camera.
Happy Wednesday!

This and that

I've had lots of questions come up lately and I figured "hey, I could make a blog post out of those". So here we go.

Halloween stuff is everywhere. I think just this morning I had the light bulb come on with what the babies are going to be. For now I'm going to keep it under my hat (just in case it changes for some reason) but don't worry, it's going to be super adorable. How can it not be :)

Parker's latest pair on shoes are red Roos that Aunt Bo bought them right after they were born. Today when I picked them up from respite care, Jane, one of the nurses, told me that she looked and realized there wasn't any money in the little pockets on the sides of the shoes yet so she put a quarter in each one. I love her :)

Yes, I still correct their age out because of them being born early. If you ask any of the doctors, you can do that until they're 2. Then after that they don't do it any more because that's the magic point where they're supposed to be caught up. I will probably always in my head correct their age. It's just one of those things.

This winter we will not qualify to get the RSV shots. Does that make me very nervous? Yes. Is there anything I can do about it? No. Insurance is not going to go for it. And with the cost ($3500 a shot), times two, for 5 months, it just isn't feasible to pay for it. So we will just watch where we go. Be super good about washing their hand if they've been anywhere. And the bottles of hand sanitizer that are all over the house will stay right where they are.

There seems to be a thing when your youngest child turns 2 that everyone wants to know when you're going to have your next baby. This question has come up alot lately. I have a really hard time with this question ( for a lot of reasons I won't go on about here). While I never know what God has in store for me, right now the dynamic duo are it.

I don't know how I do it either some times. Actually, a lot of times. It's amazing what you can do when you have no other choice. And you know where all the Scooters' are on your way to work. :)

Yep birthday time is approaching. It's kind of a big deal. :)

Football!

So it's the beginning of September and that means...football! I love football. And I don't really care who's playing. I'll watch pretty much watch anything. Saturday, Aunt Bo and Dave came over so we could eat and flip between the first football Saturday games.

Parker got into the mood by wearing his jersey and red shoes to respite care on Friday.

Saturday morning, we watched a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to get warmed up.

We spent some time hanging out waiting for Bo and Dave to come and the games to start.

And then it was game time.

Until next Saturday, Parker will be waiting at the door with his ball.

Slacking

So the past couple weeks, things have been pretty low key around our house. Not much to report (until we started our latest rounds of illness this week, ugh). Here's some of what we've been up to lately-

We've both been trying to cram into the rocker in our room.

We dodged hail stones and had dinner by candlelight after they knocked out our power.

We went swinging in the park.

We picked fruits and veggies out of Mom's garden.

                                               We learned to like Oreos.

Fell alseep with our bear on the couch.

                                              Ate ice cream with Ma-Maw.

Since we aren't feeling good, we're going to be spending the weekend at home playing, watching football and and playing in the yard.
Hope y'all have a good long Labor Day weekend and have the chance to relax.
We'll catch up with everyone next week!
