Milestones

While we're a little past the big milestones of crawling and walking we're still working on some others. This weekend we had a lot of fun and tried a few new things.

We checked out the new construction exhibit at the Children's Museum. Payton has no fear of climbing on anything. She loves it all. Parker has no fear of cruising the floor and lost most of his fear about other things because there were big trucks everywhere. They also got to ride on a tire swing for the first time too.

If you have ever played on Pinterest, you know that it's addictive. I don't crave to be on there all the time, but when I'm on there, it's suddenly an hour or more later. But it has given me some great ideas of things to try with the kiddos. Saturday night during bath time, we tried one - glow sticks in the bath tub. It was a huge hit. Awesome. Bath. Time.

Sunday we had awesome weather. We didn't even need a coat in the afternoon but were good enough with just a hoodie. We had our first adventure with sidewalk chalk. It didn't last too terribly long, but it was fun. We'll be definitely doing that some more.

Parker spent a big chunk of Sunday also working on one of his favorite things - playing with all the balls he can find and piling them in his shopping cart.

Everytime we go to see someone to get evaluated, they want to know if the twins are doing any pretend playing. Payton practiced this weekend. Her and I got her monkey and elephant ready and she had a tea party.

While we were waiting for the Oscars to start Sunday night, we were watching the beginning of the All-Star game. The babies had a dance party with Aunt Bo while they listened to Nikki Minaj sing. Parker really got into it. He likes music but usually just stops and stares but doesn't dance too much.

We made a pile of every pillow and blanket we could find too and jumped off the ottoman into them for literally hours.

Coming later this week...our trip to Defy Gravity!

Extreme Makeover: Parker Edition

For 2 years Parker has had the worse case of cradle cap. We have tried EVERYTHING to make it go away and nothing has worked. We've talked with several doctors about and even had prescriptions but it was still there. All the sudden, it seems to take a turn for the worse for some reason. So we decided enough was enough. Time for drastic measures. We decided to give him his first real haircut.

This is his before (before he knows what's about to happen)-

And this is his during and after-

Trying to make Parker feel better, Chris shaved his head at the same time. I even got Parker to say payback as we started shaving daddy's head. I hope winter decided to stay away or we'll have to go invest in some extra stocking hats for the boys.

Eye rolls and hoorays...

The past week has been full of eye rolls and a few hoorays from me here. It's not anyones fault or something anyone has done, it's just life.

The babies have been sick. We've seen the pediatrician 3 times in the past week (eye roll), and three sets of med changes from him (eye roll). Payton and I had an emergency room trip Friday night (eye roll). While there we had a few people who weren't listening (eye roll) and some that did(hooray). We ended up being admitted at 1:00 a.m. and spend 10 hours there (eye roll) before being released (hooray). I've been doing round the clock breathing treatments including setting my alarms for 2 a.m. to to oxygen sat checks and treatments (eye roll). Luckily at this point, they mostly sleep through those (hooray). And between oral steroids and breathing treatments round the clock with steroids in them, we are sleeping less than our normal not so great (eye roll). Ever seen a toddler who's exhausted, starving but refusing to eat and hopped up on steroids? It's not pretty.

But the this week started off a little better (hooray). We went for our first bite of Christy Creme ice cream Monday afternoon. While we were there, Payton had her first embarrassing moment. You know this song...

We sing a modified version "Shake Your Baby" during bath time when we're getting out of the tub and both babies do a little dance and shake off and get wrapped up in their towels. While we were sitting with our ice cream, Payton looks at me and really loudly says "shake a baby" and starts to giggle. The lady in the booth behind us turned around and glared at me. I've been waiting for CPS to show up at the house ever since.

And here's a little bath time fun for a mid-week smile. Happy Wednesday!

Snow and the Super Bowl

It was a crazy week last week and an even worse weekend, so we're playing a little catch up here for last weekend.

With last weekend being the first real snow we've had all winter, and no real awful cold to go with it, it gave us a great opportunity...our first ever chance to play in the snow! Last winter Payton was just starting to walk and Parker wasn't at all yet, along with other things, they just weren't ready for that yet. But last weekend we made it outside for a bit to explore. Parker loved it, especially since it was great snowball snow. Payton was intrigued but doesn't like to walk on it, and wasn't as sure about touching it. It was hard to convince them to come in after a while!

We also went to our first ever football party last weekend. My friend Honor's birthday just happened to fall on Super Bowl Sunday. A group of us went over to her house to watch the game a little, the commercials, half time, eat and play. Their friend Faith came and they had a great time. They helped Honor open a few gifts and got a couple early Valentine's from Honor. We had a great time and they did really well for a lot longer than I thought they would. Thanks ladies for a fun evening!

All ready to head to the party!
Checking out Honor's toys and drinking out of our new awesome football cups.

We even had a little big game hangover.

2 vs. 1

These last few days, alot of times has felt like 2 vs. 1 with the babies and me. And then I remember that they're not babies anymore, they're toddlers. That's probably worse. I finally figured out a way to say it (and I think I might have to make these all into t-shirts). Thanks to Daddy, MaMaw, Molly, and my Sunday dinner girls for the playing, visits, and giving them someone else to play with for a little bit. :) They are so tired of looking at me!
