Meeting the specialist

We had our first appointment today with Dr. Barsoom. He's a perinatologist that works mainly at Creighton but moonlights at Bergan, which is where we will deliver. We were sent to him by the regular OB because we're technically considered "high risk". He was very nice, spoke to us in normal language and explained things he was looking for and going to watch. We to continue on with the weekly shots and now add a baby asprin to the mix.

We spent about 20 minutes with the tech getting the latest ultrasound. They are both doing great. Heartbeats are good, growth is good. They are kinda in there like a yin-yang right now. I'm also doing good - great blood pressure and no real fluid retention.

He is going to keep following us and will check us again in 2 weeks and then in 4 weeks for another ultrasound. He is going to continue to follow us along with the OB to makes sure everything goes smooth and can assist come delivery time if needed.

And now we know...Baby A is a girl and Baby B is a boy :)

There is a very happy big brother, aunt and a few grandparents running around. Not to mention mom and dad.

Family vacation

We leave tomorrow for our first family vacation with the twins. We going to Colorado to play in the mountains for a few days. We checked last week at the doctor's and were given the green light to go and have fun. Just no extreme sports or mountian climbing while we're there.

So the bag is packed with extra clothes. No swimsuit for our private hot tub at the cabin since I can't get in. I will just sit next to it and watch Chris enjoy. We grabbed a spare backpack for tomorrow when we go hiking so that I can pack munchies and extra water so I can stay out and about longer without wimping out.

I'm looking forward to it. We're both itching to leave and get a little break before things get crazy - Chris finishing school, the holidays, the babies, and then working on high school graduation stuff for CJ.

We'll wave from the mountains and post pictures of us with the belly in the mountains when we get back.

Happy early weekend! :)

Ouchy

We had an appointment yesterday. All the normal stuff, and now they've started to measure my tummy too. Then came the fun part. For at least the next 15 weeks I have to get a weekly progesterone shot. The nice part is that it can be done at home, we don't have to go into the office every time.

Chris went with me to the appointment so he could learn how to give me the shots.
When the nurse started to teach him, I told him "you didn't know you were going to get to play doctor today did you?". I don't think the nurse thought that was too funny. After some instruction on how to work the syringes and how much to draw into it, he was ready - they let him give me the shot instead of watching.

It stung a little bit going in but really wasn't too bad. Within about 30 minutes it started to sting. Remember being a kid and having to go in for your booster shots and how bad that hurt, that's what it feels like now.

1 week down, 15 weeks to go

Random thoughts

I thought I ate before. Apparently, starting yesterday, I had no idea. Now I really eat. Alot. All the time. Reminds me a little of when Abby and I were little. We would suddenly eat everything in sight for a while and then we would grow like crazy all of the sudden. The babies are doing the same thing.

I am soooo slow. After being in the car for a chunck of Sunday coming back from Minnesota, I went for a walk in the evening. It's just over 2 blocks to get to Creighton Prep's track. I walked there, did 4 laps, then walked home. It took me a half hour. That's barely over a mile. I used to grind out over 3 miles in that much time easy. Ahhhhh....memories of April. But at least I keep moving.
