Bibbity Bobbity Boo

After going out to lunch yesterday we went downtown to the Civic Auditorium. Once we got in our seats, the conversation went something like this -
"Hey guys, go you know why you're here?"

"No!"

"We're here to see some of the princesses. Maybe we'll even see Mickey Mouse."

And then...

It was a great show. Snow White, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast all shortened to about 20 minute stories that little ones could sit through. Super fun!

Go Mavs!

This past weekend we had the chance to hang out with some school friends and go see the UNO Mavericks take on Michigan in hockey. It made for a super fun evening and Parker has a new love. A little root beer, popcorn and cotton candy, along with seeing their friends, one of their favorite nurses and teachers was super fun for them. They also love my friend from work who stopped by to see us and brought them the cotton candy  (that now makes her one of their new favorite people...ha!)

Up and Coming

It's that time again. Things are happening around town and you should know about them. So get out your calendars...

Local people, you may have seen this story on the news - Running Out of Time, Child Will Soon Have Nothing To Eat . This little guy has been in class with the twins for a while. It's a pretty remarkable story. Next weekend there is going to be a fundraiser to help his family with costs and expenses. If you're out and about, please check this out... Fight for Jamus.

Next up, Respite Care has joined with a local craft fair at the Westside Community Center on Nov. 23rd. Free admission and they're asking for a new, unwrapped toy. This will help replenish their stock for the kids there. And as an added bonus, you can do some shopping while you're there.

This Sunday, Quiet Light Foundation has been asked to take part in a special event at the Nebraska Medical Center. If you are out and about, come say hi. If you know other people who might be out and about, share this with them, tell them to come, start holiday shopping, meet some new people...maybe even see what we're doing and make a donation. ;)

Halloween Rewind

It was a long week...picture day, Halloween parties, trick or treating, our first time carving pumpkins, capped off with raking some leaves that are finally starting to fall. Despite my begging, they were not into going as some really creative costumes that went together (I have a couple friends that were able to pull that off and I'm totally jealous). Here are the highlights from Halloween week.

Stay tuned....we have a big night ahead. BIG!!! Pictures coming soon!

The 4-year wrap-up

We finally made it in for the 4 year check ups this week. I always get asked how big they are, so here are the official numbers for each...

Payton - She is 38 pounds and 39 inches tall. That puts her at 32% for height and 77% for weight.
Parker - He is a whooping 30 pounds and 37 inches tall. That puts him at 11% for weight and 3% for height.

Everything looks good, there are no special concerns at this time. They got their flu shots and we are good to go for now!

In other weekly doctor news....

Parker and I spent Sunday night in the ER. After a day of sounding a little strange, he really started to tank after dinner. We were greeted by a nurse who instantly took us back to a room when we got there. The ER doctor commented on how big Parker has gotten (I don't think I want an ER doc to know us that well) and the nurse aid asked if Parker went to Respite Care (because she remembered him from her clinical time). The official ruling...croup with exacerbated stridor, reactive airway and tracheomalacia. Sigh. After some mega-steroids and a special type of breathing treatment that we can't do at home, and we were allowed to go home. He's been a little weeny the past couple days but is coming around. Hope this isn't an indicator for the rest of the season.

Have a great week!!! As always, there's more exciting stuff coming!!!
